Our Journey

Beginning with just 5 events in 2003, “A Day to Remember” has expanded its events nationally and has even crossed international borders. As of December 2010, In His Wakes has had the privilege to work with over 7,000 children and 2,500 volunteers in 280 D2R events. It is anticipated that 60 events will be conducted in 2011 across the United States.

God has continually tweaked our water sports events to mold them into what He desires them to be…effective tools to bring hope and healing to a hurting world. Not only have we exposed over 6000 at-risk individuals to water sports, a sport which enables them to push past the barriers of fear and distrust, we have also built amazing relationships with our participants through one-on-one interaction, relationships which enable God to bring out the champion within!

All of our participants and our volunteers have been exposed to the gospel, many for the first time, through amazing visual analogies between water sports and a relationship with Christ.  Hundreds upon hundreds have accepted Christ as their Savior as well as sought healing for emotional, spiritual and physical pain. What a blessing to be able to lay hands on these individuals and pray for them to receive healing at the waters edge!

Our “On the Shores” division began out of a burden Kristi had to reach the water sports community for Christ. In 2002, Kristi was led to develop a tract ministry called Making the Cut. To date, over 70,000 copies have been distributed. In addition, Kristi was led to write a book called Running the Course to encourage people to run the course God has prepared for them. Over the years, OTS has reached into the hearts of people worldwide through inspirational writings that bring together analogies of water sports and faith.

OTS travels annually to selected professional and amateur water sports events in order to hold non-denominational church services aimed at encouraging people to get off their spiritual ‘docks’ so that they can experience the hope, victory and purpose of living a life in Christ. OTS has also developed junior development scholarships as to encourage young athletes to use their passion to touch the world.

With many D2R and OTS events in our wakes, we are pressing forward as God continues to expand our events into every state and across the world.  We are looking forward to continuing these programs with your support and TOGETHER moving across the waters of the world…changing one life at a time!
